When I started to research how to buy a car in Costa Rica, I realized how difficult it was going to be since I didn’t speak Spanish, didn’t know San Jose, didn’t know where to go and didn’t know much about cars also.
On top of it, for different reasons, I would only have a day or two in San Jose and it was all happening a week before Christmas! Plus, I needed a commercial vehicle, 12 passenger seat minivan (about $20,000 US), for a business I was opening in CR. Then I’ve found www.wheelscr.com and I knew it would be possible.
Russ was with me every step of the way, among other things he advised me on how to transfer the money to CR, which was a huge deal since it was a lot of money and being so close to Christmas escrow companies were on vacations. For about a month before my trip we were almost daily emailing each other. And then when I arrived, everything went smooth.
He picked me up at the hotel (he also recommended this hotel which was a great choice, not expensive and in a very safe part of the town), and took me around San Jose to see 4-5 vehicles he chose before my arrival. After a while it became evident that I’d found my minivan, and for a lower price than I was anticipating. It also came with plates and almost ready tourism permission, which was a huge plus.
That same day we went to a lawyer’s office where he translated everything for me, and the day after he arranged for an insurance person to come to the dealership. So this whole very complicated process actually was very smooth and stress free, all because of Russ. He is very efficient but at the same time friendly and calm and he makes everyone around him feel relaxed and comfortable.
It is obvious that Costa Ricans respect him. I could have never done it without him. And his fee is nothing compared to what he is offering.
Thank you Russ so much!
