We had recently moved to Costa Rica from the UK and did not want to continue paying the extremely high price of a rental car but were conscious of the many horror stories you hear from other expats when buying second hand vehicles. Wheels CR were recommended to us by a trusted friend and we were immediately impressed by the quick response we got from Russ and also that he listened to our needs rather than trying to “up sell” us a vehicle we didn’t need or want. We simply let him know the kind of car we wanted and our budget and he did the rest. I have no doubt that had our expectations been unrealistic he would have let us know and pointed us in the right direction.
Once Russ and the team had spoken with their associated dealers we were offered a couple of options and then made the trip to the San Jose to spend the morning with Chris who took us around the garages so we could test drive the cars they had found for us. This process was incredibly easy, Chris collected us from our hotel and drove us around to each dealer and with his fluent English he was able to easily answer any questions we had. Another small, but very encouraging, detail was Chris’ knowledge of the country. He knew the town we were from and the local terrain and types of road we would be driving on which meant his advice on what car we needed carried that much more weight.
After the test drives we were satisfied with one of the cars we had driven and decided to make the purchase, Russ and the team sorted all of the legal paperwork for the transfer of ownership and even offered a choice of insurance options for us to choose from. We were able to pick up and drive the car away one week later having wired the balance to the dealership.
The whole process from start to finish was made so straightforward by the whole team that I would happily recommend them to anyone looking to buy a car in Costa Rica and we will certainly be returning to them when the time comes to get our next car.
